I have interviewed over 200 different people in the past two and a half years (does Joey Diaz count?) between London Real and Silicon Real so you would think that public speaking would come easy to me right? Wrong. The reality is that speaking to a group is the polar opposite of what I do here every week in the studio.
On a typical episode of London Real I come prepared (yes those are my notes you see on the desk in front of me, although I rarely look at them during the show, it's rude!). For 90 minutes I get to put the guest in the hot seat by asking them difficult and revealing questions that allow YOU to understand who they really are as fast as possible. I hope it's working.
So when Jason Goodman, one of my guests on Silicon Real (our parallel show dedicated to the People of the London Technology Startup Scene) asked me to speak to Albion, his Digital Advertising Agency in London, I was petrified and of course immediately accepted.
Jason founded Albion 12 years ago and now his clients are a who's who of the London digital landscape: Wonga, Skype, Betfair, Compare the Market (yes the Meerkats), Zoopla...the list goes on. Entrepreneurial spirit permeates the agency and you get this buoyant, optimistic vibe just walking in the place (and yes the average age is much younger than me!).
I hope you enjoy my first foray into the group-speak space. Thanks to Jason I have begun to search for an unsuspecting TEDx conference to invade this year.
