Suli Breaks is a Spoken Word artist from London who I met one year ago when he first appeared on London Real as an Ambassador for Surviving Our Streets, a violence prevention organisation that focuses on reducing serious street and gang-related violence.
From the first meeting I could tell that Suli was unique: an intelligent man with a message and the humility to make me listen. In my business, I meet plenty of the former and very few of the latter.
His spoken word videos are now timeless classics: "Why I Hate School But Love Education", "I Will Not Let An Exam Result Decide My Fate", and "Parents Are The Hardest People To Please." Every time I watch these videos I hear something new, reminding me that I am definitely getting older!
Fast forward one year and Suli has co-hosted two epic London Real episodes with Eric Thomas the Hip-Hop Preacher and American rapper Immortal Technique. He's involved in Technology Startup companies in London, is about to embark on his "Around The World in 80 Days" tour, and was recently featured on the actor Will Smith's Facebook page.
Suli has matured exponentially. And he's just getting warmed up!
But most importantly Suli has become a friend. A guy who I can kick back with and talk about the latest DSLR, the best time of day to train cardio, or how to push the Pareto Principle to the limit! And when it comes to my creative process, his advice is invaluable.
So join me in wishing Suli Breaks "Godspeed" on his new adventure "Around the World in 80 Days." We know that you will face some difficult moments, but that you will endure and transcend to return home and once again drop those nuggets of science we all cherish so deeply.
Peace to You.
